On Day 3 of the 4th Test between India and Australia, play was halted due to heavy rain in Melbourne. India, chasing Australia’s first innings total of 474 all out, was struggling at 191/6 when Nitish Reddy walked in to bat. The 21-year-old played a brilliant knock, finishing unbeaten on 105 off 176 balls.
Reddy formed a key partnership with Washington Sundar, who scored 50, with the pair putting on 127 runs for the eighth wicket. This partnership helped India avoid the follow-on and narrow the gap to Australia’s total. When play was called off for the day, India still trailed by 116 runs, after starting the day 310 runs behind with five of their top batters already dismissed.
